In 1968, Osamu Ishiyama (*1944, Tokyo) founded the Tokyo based DAM-DAN Design Studio. Since 1988, he teaches as Professor at the WASEDA UNIVERSITY in Tokyo. He works in the fields of Architecture and Fine Arts as well as in the field of Design Theory. Besides publishing various books and articles he received numerous prizes for his architectural work. His major building projects are: Gen-An (Fantasy Villa) in Aichi 1975, Chohachi Art Museum, Shizuoka 1984, Nexus World – Collective Houses, Fukuoka 1994, Tree-House, Saitama 2000 and Setagaya-Village, Tokyo 2001 and Hiroshima-House, Phnom Penh/Cambodia 1993-2006.
His work was showcased in several exhibitions including the Victoria and Albert Museum London 1991, the 6th Architectural Biennale in Venice 1996, the Setagaya Art Museum in Tokyo 2008 and the Bauhaus University in Weimar 2011
